Context, Matters.
Five months ago, we rolled out usage-based pricing. Since then, we’ve been listening closely. The most consistent feedback: “I love the trial, but 600 messages is overkill for me.” You wanted something lighter, without giving up the full context engine and coding experience Augment provides.
Introducing The Indie Plan
The Indie plan includes 125 user messages per month for $20 per user. It's designed for individual builders who use AI coding assistance for light to moderate daily development.
Indie fits perfectly if you're building side projects or augmenting your daily workflow without relying on AI for every coding task. You get the same powerful agents, context awareness, and code quality you expect from Augment, just with usage that matches your actual needs. The Indie plan is for solo developers only — if you need team management, the Developer plan is the best fit for you.
Why $20 and why 125 user messages
$20 is the common entry price used across the AI Landscape, from OpenAI to Claude (with Code) or our competitors, the industry as settled down on $20 per month as the entry point.
Our usage data shows 125 user messages covers about 70% of active users who didn't convert under previous plans. We’ve also discussed with users that fit that coding workflow how often they use ai agents in their day to day and it hovers arounds 100 to 150 agents interactions per month.

What happens if you hit your limit
Hit the message limit? Two options:
- Buy more messages ($15 per 100, rollover for 12 months).
- Or upgrade instantly to the Developer plan (600 messages, $50/month).

The AI coding world is moving quickly. We’ll keep adjusting pricing and usage to match how real developers work and to keep the latest SOTA models available for as many developers as possible.
